For those of you who haven't stumbled upon this information already, I've done some exploring and found that there are portal trainers in Exodar (Dranei capital city on Azuremyst Island) who will teach you Teleport to Exodar (level 20) and Portal to Exodar (level 40). Also, in the major city of Shattrath you can find a portal trainer who will teach you Teleport to Shattrath (level 60) and Portal to Shattrath (level 65). The city of Shattrath also has a central area with portals to Exodar, Ironforge, Stormwind, Darnassus. (This is the alliance info, of course. Shattrath also has portals to horde capital cities, including the new Silvermoon.)
There are a lot of interesting vendors and factions in Shattrath, as well as a bank. It is missing an auction house and some trainers.
If you like the idea of teleporting to Shattrath and flying to Honor Hold as an alternative to teleporting to Stormwind and flying to Blasted Lands and riding to the portal, be aware that you will need to get a couple of connecting flight paths - it's not a direct flight to Honor Hold from Shattrath. Those links are in Telredor (Zangarmarsh) and Temple of Telhamat (northwestern Hellfire Penninsula.)
